Oregonian Article shows us "Streets are all about Politics"

To All COLA LO Members,

An insightful article in the Oregonian last week provided us ample food for thought on why our streets are degrading in Portland and how that philosophy may actually be impacting Lake Oswego.

As residents continue to be frustrated by the degradation in the streets in LO we begin to be able to evaluate the direction that Portland has taken and LO has followed over the past few years.

IN the article Political Sinkhole  the Oregonian shows that despite increasing budgets, funds have been diverted for popular projects by the administration.   Sound familiar?   Did anyone say streetcar?

The Oregonian provides some blanket statements that are frightening:

The city isn't taking proper care of its roads, a $5 billion asset inching toward disrepair. If Portland continues to follow this path, the cost to the next generation will be staggering.

Its an insightful article given the direction of LO's current administration and the fact that its well known our council and Mayor follow the same philosophy as Portland's mayor.

No doubt that the issue of council focus, objectives, and performance will be on the minds of LO voters in the fall election.
