MacPherson Announces run for Mayor

To All COLA LO Members,

It is expected that Greg Macpherson will announce his candidacy for mayor today.

Please see earlier posts on his background and positions including pro streetcar and his donation to the measure 3-388 campaign.

Part of the announcement will include the following statements:

"I am undertaking this new public service because I see a City Council that is too divided. Disagreement over public issues is not necessarily a bad thing. But the divisions on the Council go beyond healthy debate and make it harder for Lake Oswego to achieve important goals.

My work in the Oregon House of Representatives has been recognized for balanced and effective leadership in a partisan setting. That experience will help me bridge the divisions afflicting Lake Oswego's civic life.

I believe there is important work to be done in local government. Livable communities depend on quality schools, alternative modes of transportation, efficient public services, and strong local businesses. Through positive example, Lake Oswego can help shape the way people live beyond its borders.

Since moving to Lake Oswego over a decade ago, I have benefited from the work performed by past leaders. Now is the time for me to give back to the community."
